After my daughter was born I noticed I was losing hair. Every time I ran my fingers through my hair to wash it, dry it or put it in a ponytail about 20 hairs would come out at a time. My hairline was receding and I knew I needed to fix it fast.
I started looking into Rogaine for women and from speaking to my hairdresser what it’s main function is to make the hair stick to your scalp. Meaning it acts like glue, but it doesn’t stimulate regrowth. He told me to look in to Biotin and from my research it does start the regeneration process of the hair follicles, but it only came in pill form. I hate taking pills so I kept looking. Then I kept seeing collagen in my Insta feed.
I was watching IG stories one day and a user mentioned that since drinking collagen her hair started to grow back – she was also losing hair from her pregnancy (damn hormones!). Off I went to the Vital Proteins website and reading all the information they provided and how it came in powder form really spoke to me. They were kind enough to send me some free products to try out. (Thank you Vital Proteins for the goods!) Since then I have been buying their products specifically the marine collagen. My body seems to respond better to it than the pasture raised beef variety. Four months later my baby hairs are now four inches long. I can’t style it but I am getting my hairline back!
For me it works and I love how versatile it is. I have back it in cakes and cookies, and add it to soups, smoothies, coffee and tea.
One of the ways I like enjoying it is with my tea and I am happy to share with you a drink I dub “Beauty Water”. I hope you enjoy it. It reminds me of a non-alcoholic version of a Rose Sangria.
