Labanos Fries with Creamy Sinigang Dip – Bahay Kubo Cooking Series
These Labanos (Daikon) Fries get nice and roasted in the oven, which amps up the flavor. To accompany the fries a creamy “Sinigang” dip is made with tamarind sauce.

For the Labanos Fries
- 2 Pounds Labanos Peeled and cut into the shape of fries.
- ¼ Cup Olive Oil
- 1 Tablespoon Garlic Powder
- 1 Teaspoon Salt
- 1 Teaspoon Pepper
For the Sinigang Dip
- ½ Cup Mayonnaise
- 1 Tablespoon Onion Powder
- 1 Teaspoon Tamarind Sauce add more if you want it more sour
- 1 Teaspoon Salt
Make the Fries
First heat up the oven to 475 Degrees and line a baking sheet with foil or silicone mat. Next place the labanos in the lined tray and drizzle with olive oil and add in the garlic powder, salt and pepper.
Make sure the fries are spaced apart and roast for 30 minutes flipping each labanos over half way through the cooking time. Once done it will look nice and golden.
