Green Mango Shake - Filipino Style

This Filipino style Green Mango Shake is the perfect icy mix of sweet and sour. It's the kind of drink you crave on a super hot day.

  • 1 Cup Water
  • 2 Tablespoons Sugar
  • 1 Cup Fresh Diced Green Mango
  • 2 Cups Crushed Ice

Instructions

  • First let's make the sugar water syrup. This need to be cooled down for at least 15 minutes in the freezer or made a few hours or days ahead and cooled in the refrigerator .
  • Combine 2 tablespoons of sugar and 1 cup of water in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil on high heat and then turn it down and leave to simmer for 15 minutes. The water should be a touch tinted brown and reduced slightly. So it will be a little less than a cup now.
  • Dice 1 cup of green mango.
  • Put the 1 cup of green mango, 1 cup(ish) water syrup and 2 cups of ice in the blender. Blend until smooth .
  • Pour in glass and drink right away.

Notes

Does it really have to be a green mango?  I know it's really hard to get so you can get away with a regular mango that is not ripe yet.  Just feel it to make sure your mango is super firm.  That is usually a sign that it's still sour. So you can use that instead of hunting around for green mango.
