    Filipino Avocado Shake

    Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

This Filipino Avocado Shake only needs 4 simple ingredients. Just avocado, milk, ice and honey is all you need for a super cold creamy shake.

    Filipino Avocado Shake

Ah, the Filipino Avocado Shake. It's such a classic and it's oh so simple. My dad grew up with an avocado tree in the Philippines. So lucky!

I remember when I first made an avocado toast he was so appalled. To him it was a sweet fruit, not something to spread on bread and sprinkle salt on it.

    Avocado cut in half

Filipinos love to eat avocado with some ice with a sprinkle of sugar or even a drizzle of condensed milk. Kinda like a make shift ice cream without the work.

What I love about Filipino shakes is the use of a single fruit and lots of ice and a sweetener. Some do use lots of sugar, but that can be adjusted to your taste.

    Ingredients for Filipino Avocado Shake

Avocado - Go for the big avocados with the shiny green smooth skin. They tend to be a bit sweeter.

Milk - The usual go to milk is condensed or even evaporated. Use the milk of your choice.

Ice - Crushed ice is key to make it a super cold shake.

Honey - Is what I used for a sweetener, but you can use any. Although if you used condensed milk that is two in one already.

Bottle of honey, bowl of crushed ice, bottle of oat milk, large avocado.

    How To Make It

You do need a blender to make this Filipino Avocado Shake. Add in a whole avocado, 2 cups of crushed ice, one cup of milk and 2 tablespoons of honey.

    Blending Filipino Avocado Shake ingredients

Blend for a minute or two until everything is nice and smooth.

    Blended shake.

How To Serve Your Filipino Avocado Shake

Pour the shake into two glasses and drink the shake right away, or else it will turn brown eventually.

How To Make the Filipino Avocado Shake More Green

As I mentioned before the key to Filipino shakes is the simplicity of minimal ingredients.

If there is a need to make these ahead and serve later than you can initially mix together the milk and a small handful of fresh baby spinach leaves first into the blender. This will create a super green base and then add the other ingredients.

Another alternative is to add a few squeezes of lemon juice in the mix. It will taste a tad sour, so up your sweetener if you choose to do that.

Tips on How to Store Leftovers

If you do have any Filipino Avocado Shake leftovers you can pour them into popsicle molds and eat them as ice pops later or even pour it into small cups to eat as ice cream.
