    Calamansi Truffle Soy Butter Rice

Flavored rice is a game changer. This isn't my idea though. I saw a story on instagram by mrsdonabe and she added orange rind, butter and soy to her just cooked rice. I had to try it, but with calamansi and it turned out so so good!! It's the perfect no waste recipe as you can save the calamansi rinds after juicing them to use in this recipe.

    Ingredients

The ingredients you will need for Calamansi Truffle Soy Butter Rice is just 4 ingredients.

Bowl of calamansi rind, bottle of truffle soy sauce and container of butter.
    1. You need cooked rice. I made one cup of rice and cooked it in the rice cooker.
    2. Finely chopped calamansi rind. I used 4 calamansi and chopped it up really fine.
    3. Truffle Soy Sauce. I found this at Trader Joe's recently. You can use any soy sauce you want or even tamari or coconut aminos.
    4. Butter. I used vegan butter, but regular butter is fine as well.

How to Make Calamansi Truffle Soy Butter Rice!

Oh this is so easy. Once the rice is cooked add in the calamansi rind, soy sauce and butter. The soy sauce and butter is more to your taste. I added 1 tablespoon of each, but feel free to add more or less. Then mix, mix, mix.

    Serving Suggestions

Once you try it , it's very easy to eat it on its own. But I highly suggest having it with some lechon, or fried fish with a side of fresh veggies. Even a fried egg on top with chili crisp is super yum.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What if I don't have access to fresh Calamansi?

You can sub the rind with any citrus you have handy. Orange, lemon or even limes will do!

Why is your Calamansi rind orange?

The calamansi I have access to is grown in California. Due to the climate and the soil, the rind ripens to an orange color. It's still calamansi though. The ones grown in the Philippines are a more vibrant green so if you are making it from there the rice you make will be more green.
