    Ube Matcha Latte Recipe

    Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

This Ube Matcha Latte is made with super fine Ube Powder and coconut creamer. Topped with unsweetened Matcha and lots of crushed ice. The perfect blend of Filipino and Japanese flavors.

    ube matcha latte

These are one of those drinks that I always see at the boba shops popping up everywhere. Ube Matcha Latte's are so pretty to look at and also good to sip on.

Ube powder is mixed with a combination of coconut creamer and water to get the right sweetness level. Then it's topped with unsweetened matcha and crushed ice to give it a hint of grassy earthiness.

    Ingredients

Ube Powder - I get mine from Filiflavors. The powder is 100% ube and when you rehydrate it, the Ube powder gets thicker. If you cannot find this you can sub with Ube Halaya instead.

Coconut Creamer - This is sweeter that milk, so you don't need to add sugar. If you can't find it you can use coconut condensed milk or just sweetened coconut milk. We are going to use this to mix with the ube powder to make the ube latte layer.

Matcha Powder - For the matcha layer, we are just going to whisk it with water and nothing else. It gives a nice contrast to the sweet ube on the bottom.

How to Make The Ube Matcha Latte Layers

The key to making the layers is to make the bottom layer heavy. We are going to do that by using Ube Powder mixed with water and coconut creamer.

Mix 1 tablespoon of Ube Powder with ¾ cup of water and add 2 tablespoons of coconut creamer. Mix well with a whisk and pour into an ice filled tall glass.

Ube Latte in a glass with ice.

To make the matcha layer mix ⅓ cup of water with 1 teaspoon of matcha powder. Whisk until there are no lumps.

    Matcha being poured in

Pour over the Ube latte. The matcha layer will be pretty light and will sit on top of the Ube latte layer.

Isn't it the prettiest Ube Matcha Latte you have ever seen?

It will be great to sip with some Bibingkies or Matcha Kuchinta or even this Palabok Sandwich.

    Customize your Ube Matcha Latte

    • Instead of Ube Powder use 1 Tablespoon of Ube Halaya
    • Instead of Coconut Creamer mix 2-3 tablespoons of coconut milk with 1 teaspoon (or more of sugar)
    • Add instant boba
    • Top with whipped cream
    • Put a scoop of Ube Ice Cream on the bottom
