    Calamansi Espresso Tonic

    Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

This Calamansi Espresso Tonic is made with a honey syrup, calamansi soda and shot of espresso along with lots of ice. It's a perfect shot of super icy caffeine.

Calamansi Espresso Tonic in a glass served with a glass straw and calamansi leaves.

I had this a Calamansi Espresso Tonic at a cafe in the Philippines the last time I was there. I don't remember the name of it unfortunately. It was in BGC.

It was unbearably humid and hot but I needed caffeine. The combination of calamansi and espresso caught my eye so I ordered one. Dang it was so refreshing. Citrus and coffee do go well together. I mean in Italy they put a twirl of orange zest on top of your espresso cups.

Bonus for me as it had lots of ice. Here is how to make one of the most refreshing drinks ever.

    Ingredients

This is what you would need to make a Calamansi Espresso Tonic.

Fresh Calamansi - If you have access to fresh use it! About 3 fresh ones is good. They pack a punch of flavor. I you don't have access to fresh use 1 tablespoon of bottled calamansi juice.

Honey - For our sweetener we are going to use honey. Use your favorite. You will need 2 tablespoons. At Filipino grocery stores they have a bottle of Calamansi concentrate, you can use that instead of honey and calamansi juice.

Ice - It's a cold drink so use about a cup of ice.

Calamansi Soda - Use my favorite if you can get it. A can of Sanzo Calamansi Sparkling Water. You can also sub your favorite Tonic water instead.

Shot of Espresso - To top it all off you will need a shot of espresso. If you don't have a machine you can also use canned cold brew concentrate. You will need 2 oz of coffee.

Cup of ice, bottle of honey, can of calamansi soda, fresh calamansi and shot of espresso.

How to Make a Calamansi Espresso Tonic

    Mix honey and fresh calamansi.

Mix together the honey and fresh squeezed calamansi juice into the bottom of your serving glass.. You can also throw in the whole calamansi in there for a hint of green for presentation.

    Add ice.

Add the ice into the glass.

    Add the calamansi soda.

    Then add the calamansi soda.

Top with espresso to make Calamansi Espresso Tonic.

Top with the shot of espresso.

How To Serve Your Calamansi Expresso Tonic

I love that when you add in the soda and espresso it creates a pretty foam on the top of the Calamansi Espresso Tonic. You won't be using all the calamansi soda, but you can serve it on the side to top off your drink as you sip.

Don't forget to mix it all up so that you get the calamansi syrup mixed in with the coffee.
