Okay if you have ever visited the Philippines, the drink menu at the restaurants there are always filled with shakes. But it's not what you think! It's really a fruit blended with ice to make a super fresh and refreshing slushy.

The most popular fruit shake is mango of course. This time we are going to be making it with pineapple. It's so good! Like drinking a vacation. Haha.

    Ingredients

As I said in the intro all you need are two ingredients.

Frozen Pineapple - I used already frozen pineapple, but you can totally peel and cut your own fresh pineapple and freeze it yourself. You will need 1 cup of cubed frozen pineapple.

Pineapple Juice - You will need about 12 oz of pineapple juice. If you use those tiny cans they are about 6oz. So you will need two of those.

Bag of frozen pineapple chunks and 2 cans of pineapple juice.

How to Make Filipino Pineapple Shake

It's as simple as throwing everything in a blender. For real. That is it. Well there is a slight technique to it.

Pineapple chunks and juice in a blender.

First add the frozen pineapple to the blender and add 1 can or 6 oz of pineapple juice. Blend it slightly. Depending on how strong your blender is, it might stop blending on its own. If it does that, that is fine.

The second step is to keep the blender running while you add the second can of pineapple juice bit by bit. This is where you can decide how thick or thin you want the Pineapple Shake.

For a nice and thick, add about an additional 3 oz or half the can. If you prefer it to be on the thinner side add the whole can. That is what I did.

The sweetness level will depend on how sweet your frozen pineapple is.

    Just blended.

Pour it into a glass and enjoy your tropical vacation from home.

    Variations on Filipino Pineapple Shake

    • For additional sweetness add some honey or maple syrup.
    • You can add some coconut milk to make a quick pina colada.
    • For a bit of herby freshness you can add a few leaves of mint.
    • Ginger grated in while blending will add a little bit of spice.
    • For a Hawaiian twist instead of adding pineapple juice you can add a combination of orange and guava juice.

Let me know if you made it pure or added a variation on your shakes.
