As you know we went apple picking a few weeks ago and one of the things my daughter requested to make was apple sauce. So like a good Mama I prepped everything and we made apple sauce together. She tasted it and said no thanks and ate the one from her pouch. (Insert eye roll here)
I loved it because it rolls deep in vanilla and cinnamon plus it's going to be so good in an apple tart that we are going to make later on.
Ingredients
- 6 Apples that have been peeled cored and cubed
- ¾ Cup Water
- 2 Tablespoons Maple Syrup
- 1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Powder or Extract
Instructions
- Place all the ingredients in a pot on medium heat. Cover and cook for 2o minutes. Uncover, turn off heat and mash the apple until you reach your ideal consistency. Turn the heat back on medium low and cook for a further 5 minutes to reduce it a little bit more.
- Cool completely in the pot then transfer to a jar and place in the refrigerator for up to a week.
