    Ube Hot Chocolate

    Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

This Ube Hot Chocolate is made with homemade Ube Milk and white chocolate from the Philippines. It's then topped with coconut whip and a sprinkle of Ube Polvoron.

3 cups of Ube Hot Chocolate

Gosh, if you are looking for a sip-able dessert then this Ube Hot Chocolate is it. This recipe is for 1 cup, however I suggest serving it in tiny espresso cups and dividing it up into 3 servings. Great during cold nights around the fire. Oh and if you are so inclined, adding a shot of coconut rum would go great with it too.

    Ingredients

Homemade Ube Milk - I am telling you this Ube Milk is a recipe that you will make over and over.

White Chocolate - In this recipe we use one whole bar of Auro white chocolate from the Philippines. Feel free to use any white chocolate bar, but you are making a Filipino drink so use Filipino ingredients to support the country and farmers where Ube comes from.

Coconut Whip - Get the ready made whip. I keep a container of coco whip in my freezer incase of emergency.

Crushed Ube Polvoron - This no bake Filipino Shortbread Cookie gives it a nice crunch texture. We sprinkle it on top of the coconut whip.

Tub of coco whip, bar of white chocolate, Ube Polvoron packet and glass of Ube Milk.

How To Make Ube Hot Chocolate

Break up the bar of 60g white chocolate in a small sauce pan then pour in 1 cup of Ube Milk. Turn on the heat to low and melt the chocolate while whisking to ensure there are no lumps.

Ube Milk and shards of white chocolate in a sauce pan.

Stir for about 5 minutes until the Ube Hot Chocolate is nice and smooth.

Finished Ube Hot Chocolate in a sauce pan with a whisk inside.

How To Serve Ube Hot Chocolate

As I mentioned earlier this drink is decadent with a capital D! To serve pour the finished Hot Chocolate into three separate espresso cups.

Ungarnished glasses of Ube Hot Chocolate.

Then top each drink with a tablespoon of coconut whip and a sprinkle of Ube Polvoron.

    Questions You May Have

Where can I buy Auro White Chocolate?

In the US you can purchase them from Filiflavors and specialty chocolate shops like Bar and Cocoa. In the Philippines you can purchase directly from Auro Chocolates.

    Where can I buy Cocowhip?

These are available in the US in the ice cream section. They are in pretty much all the grocery stores.

Can I use regular whipped cream?

Yes you can! Use any version you have.

Is the Ube Polvoron necessary and where can I get it?

Not really. It just adds a nice crunch if you need the crunch. You can get Ube Polvoron in Filipino Grocery Stores.
