Melon Halo Halo - Super Sarap

    Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

This Melon Halo Halo is made with fresh cut super sweet melon and lots of ice. To make it next level we add a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Melon Halo Halo in tall glass.

Okay this Halo Halo is like when Melon sa Malamig and Japanese Kakigori have a baby. I just love touch of melon syrup soaked into the shaved ice. It gives it a little flavor lift.

However we don't forget the fresh super ripe and super sweet melon. It's half of the treat!

No milk is needed in this Melon Halo Halo as you will add a scoop (or two) of vanilla ice cream. When it melts down after mixing it up it's like drinking melon milk. Oh so sarap.

    Ingredients

Okay we are going to go in order of layering it into your 16oz glass.

Nata de Coco - I used about 2 heaping tablespoons.

Fresh Melon - Make sure you use the sweetest most ripe cantaloupe melon you can find and dice it the same size as the data de coco. You will need about ¼ cup.

Shaved Ice - It's up to you if you like to pack it in or to leave it loose so that it's easier to mix. Prepare 2 cups per person.

Melon Syrup - You can get melon syrup from your local Japanese grocery store. I drizzled about 1 tablespoon. You can add more if you would like it sweeter. If you want to avoid added sugar all together you can use the juice squeezed out of the melon seeds instead.

Vanilla Ice Cream - You decide if you need one scoop or two.

Tub of vanilla ice cream, bowl of nata de coco, bowl of melon, bowl of shaved ice and packet of melon syrup.

How To Serve Melon Halo Halo

Silly! You eat it right away duh!

    Melon Halo Halo.

You can take your time at the top mixing together the melon flavored shaved ice and the vanilla ice cream or do what I did.

Melon Halo Halo all mixed up.

Go crazy and make a mess and mix it all up. The goal is to get the stuff from the bottom all the way to the top.
