    Simple Mango Halo Halo Recipe

    Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

This Mango Halo Halo recipe is inspired by the Taiwanese Mango Snow Ice Dessert. It's just fresh mango, ice, milk and mango sorbet. So simple, so quick, so easy.

A tall glass of Mango Halo Halo filled with layered vanilla ice cream and mango puree, topped with a scoop of mango sorbet, sits on a white surface with green foliage in the background.

Over the weekend we went to a snow ice place that had a mango shaved snow dessert. The ice is made with milk so when you shave it down it's as soft a brand new snow. It's then topped with mango sauce and fresh mango slices and if you wish a touch of condensed milk.

I myself don't add the condensed milk as I think it's good as is. This Mango Halo Halo is inspired by that Taiwanese dessert. It's very simple yet very good.

    Ingredients

Fresh Ripe Mango - It's very important to use very sweet, juicy and ripe mango. Cut it into cubes. If you wish you can also blend some of the mango to make a drizzle.

Shaved Ice - I don't make the milky ice, as I tried before and my kind of shave ice machine cannot handle it. So I just use regular ice and shave it down.

Milk - You can use evaporated or your favorite milk or mylk.

Mango Syrup - Japan is having a mango craze at the moment so they had a mango shaved ice syrup. They do have a few options on amazon, as it's hard to find it at grocery stores.

Mango Sorbet - I find that using sorbet is better as it has more natural mango in it, but you can use mango ice cream as well or vanilla ice cream.

Mango sorbet, milk in a glass cup, a bowl of ice, a pouch of mango syrup, and a whole fresh mango on a wooden surface.

A glass filled to the top with finely shaved ice, placed on a wooden surface.

Then fill the rest of the gap with ice. Very lightly push it down.

How To Make This Mango Halo Halo Your Own

As you can see this recipe is super simple. Now if you want to take it up a notch you can add any of the following:

    • Nata De Coco
    • Macapuno Strings
    • Mango Popping Boba
    • Mango Jelly

Just layer it in between the mangoes and ice and don't forget to halo halo. Ha. See what I did there.

All mixed Mango Halo Halo - Mango chunks, crushed ice, and a creamy liquid—served with a metal spoon inside.
