Everyone! Did you guys know that paleo granola is super super easy to make? I mean, any kind of granola is super easy to make if you think about it. I used to buy expensive bags of paleo granola and now my life has changed by making my own with some walnut oil and date syrup.
I used La Tourangelle Walnut Oil that is made here in Woodland California. I recently met the team and love how small the company is and how truly family oriented they are. It’s not that often you can talk to a CEO about potty training.
The CEO Matthieu Kohlmeyer is from France and I told him I used French Macarons as my daugthers reward treat and even he thinks I’m too fancy. IT’S NOT NORMAL IN FRANCE EITHER!
Anyway back to this paleo granola. The walnut oil just intensifies the flavor of all the nuts, not just the walnuts and the date syrup adds the right amount of sweetness.
Now let’s talk about date syrup. You have seen me use it in about 80% of my recipes recently. About a year ago my dad was diagnosed with diabetes. He is a sweets lover (which is how he got in trouble in the first place). I was on a quest to give him all the treats modified with less sugar and made with something his body can handle.
One day I was on Instagram (go figure) and saw some local Bay Area foodies talking about a brand called Just Date Syrup. I commented on one of their posts and the owner Sylvie wanted to send me one to try and I said yes! It came two days later and I’ve been hooked ever since. Now I regulary buy the set of 3 so I can keep two here for recipe development and give one to my parents in Las Vegas.
I only added a touch of the date syrup to the granola so that you can adjust the sweetness when your eating the granola. It is really good in ice cold dairy free yogurt and some crunchy fruit.
I know that I use some ingredients that are hard to get where you live, so the good folks at La Tourangelle and Just Date Syrup have given me some oils and syrup to help stock up your pantry. A healthy and easy recipe for paleo granola using walnut oil and date syrup.
Pre-Heat Oven to 300 Degrees F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
Place all the ingredients in a bowl and mix well.
Pour on to the lined pan and spread to make an even layer.
Bake for 25 minutes until the nuts are golden brown.
Remove from the oven and allow the paleo granola to fully cool down.
Break into chunks and store in an airtight container up to 3 weeks.
I used a mix of walnuts, almonds, cashews and pistachio for this paleo granola. You can use any nuts you wish.
I would really like to try the date syrup. Thanks
Hi Pat! I hope you win too!
This granola is gorgeous, especially with all of those whole mixed nuts. I love making homemade granola, but I confess that I’ve never used date syrup! It sounds fantastic.
Thanks so much Amanda! I hope you get to try the date syrup! It’s so good!
Homemade granola is the best! I’m loving the flavors you have going on here!
It is the best!
This looks delicious! I love grain-free granola for a more energy-packed on-the-go snack. I’ve always wondered about buying walnut oil before, but I was never sure what I would use it for if I did.
You should try the walnut oil! It’s so amazing! You can also use it in baking too.
I just love the idea of this grain free granola – very clever. I’m with you on the date syrup, it’s a staple in our Middle Eastern cooking. But on granola is definitely one to try!
Date Syrup is just amazing!
This granola sounds super tasty. Awesome that it’s grain free. I’ve never used date syrup before. I bet it’s sweet and delicious!

The hubby and I are workout fanatics and we have been making some adjustments to our diet, eating primarily paleo. Given this, I’ve been on the lookout for a tasty granola recipe that will serve as the perfect afternoon snack. Yours sure does look irresistible. And how cool is that date syrup?
You guys have to try this then. It’s perfect for you if you workout lots.
I love a good grain-free granola. The crunch is spectacular. I like that you’ve sued walnut oil in these for a little something extra!
Hm – I’ve never used date syrup. Love making my own granola, though!
Mmm. I haven’t used date syrup or walnut oil! I love making granola, I’m intrigued and want to pick some up so I can make your recipe asap! I can’t wait to try your granola!
I love this granola. I love combinations of nuts like this rather than the granolas that are loaded with oats and other grains. I also really love that you sweetened it with date syrup. We have diabetics in our house, too, and finding things they can snack on is often a challenge.
Date syrup and walnut oil are both new to me! They sound incredible though, and definitely sound perfect for this homemade granola. I’ve been looking for something to snack on throughout the day, and I think this is a perfect solution!
This granola looks just wonderful and I really want to try the date syrup now! It sounds like such a delicious, versatile ingredient!
Your granola looks delicious as well as your photos. I would love to try the date syrup – what a wonderful addition to your granola. YUM!
I’ve never heard of date syrup so I am now very intrigued. I have walnut oil and don’t use it very often, well it’s definitely going to get put to use now!
Looks delicious! And what a fun giveaway.
I love granola and homemade is the best. Also love that you used walnut oil and date syrup (that I have yet to try!) Inspiring!
