Here is a list of some of my Favorite Filipino Desserts. Some are traditional, some are not but still have lots of Filipino flavor!
Halo Halo
A lot of people would say that Halo Halo is one of the best Filipino desserts out there. I agree! There are different versions available now, but just as long as there is shaved ice and ice cream I am all in. Here are some that you can make for the full list check out all my Halo Halo recipes.
A Classic Filipino Dessert Biko
There is nothing like finishing a meal with a super sticky square of Biko. It's actually one of my favorite Filipino desserts because my mom used to make this a lot. It was her thing during FilAm potlucks. I have made different variations over the years. Here are some of your favorites and mine.
Ube Halaya
It's not a Filipino Christmas or Roche Buena party without a tray of Ube Halaya. Totally a Filipino Dessert mainstay. Normally it's not available year round as it takes a whole year to grow an Ube. Saved during special occasions it's very rich and filling. I only need a spoon of it and I am oh so satisfied.
I'm also adding in a few other Ube recipes as it's now a thing.
Kakanin and Kalamay
Leche Flan and Yema
I'm grouping Leche Flan and Yema together as the flavors it's are very similar. This Healthy Leche flan has been a favorite for years. It's easy and really easy to make.
I have several yema recipes using the base of yema spread. It's so versatile! You can do so much with it!
Sans Rival / Silvanas
Okay, so I haven't made a super traditional Sans Rival as I find it way too sweet and buttery. However I do like the flavors together. Here are some different ways you can use the flavor profile.
Brazo De Mercedes
It's another one of those way to sweet Filipino Desserts, but I had to add it. I haven't made a version of it yet, but I did photograph a really good one for Serious Eats. This Brazo De Mercedes is developed by my friend Yana Gilbuena and I like how she adds cashews to the filling to cut the super sweetness.
Broken Glass and Other Filipino Jelly Desserts
How can I forget Broken Glass! It's one of those classic Filipino Desserts.
Another classic is Buko Pandan. This is similar to the salad, but in Halo Halo style.
This has been a pretty extensive list. So what would you add to your list of favorites?
